COSS Training Amendments
Changes to COSS Initial
We would also like to inform you of changes to the duration of COSS Initial training. With immediate effect, our awarding body NSAR have informed us the course must now be delivered over a 7-day duration.
The course breakdown is as follows: Day 1 – PTS & DCCR Recert Days 2 to 6 – COSS Day 7 – COSS OLP/CRP
Changes to COSS Recertification Network Rail are adopting a different approach to the COSS recertification event. They are expecting learners to attend the course fully prepared and up to date with rules, responsibilities, and knowledge of the COSS duties. On day 1 they will be tested on their current knowledge and therefore we strongly advise providing your COSS’s with additional support to ensure their knowledge before the course is at an adequate level. Going forward, we will issue a copy of a COSS workbook with our Joining Instructions. This is should be used as a revision tool for learners to use prior to attending the course. This will not be marked or reviewed, and learners will not be expected to bring the completed workbook with them. The course duration for COSS recertification remains unaffected and stays at 4 days. If you require any further information on the above then please do not hesitate to contact us.
