Recently we have received a few enquiries requesting clarification of the requirements for the use of Logbooks.

We are writing to remind you that the Sentinel App can be used to record when a competence is used. It can be accepted as evidence of the number of times a competence has been practised when required as a pre-requisite for attendance at a training event.

The paper logbook can also be used to complement the use of the Sentinel App. The logbook provides the holder with an option to obtain a wet signature from the Controller of Site Safety (COSS) or Safe Work Leader (SWL) on shift confirming what has been completed.

Either or both methods are recognised as sufficient pre-requisites to be completed in advance of attending a relevant training course or recertification assessment, where this is required.
